For retainer & subscription billing

Stop re-typing the same invoice every month

Set a client up once — weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly — and BillForge generates a draft copy on the due date for you to check and send. You stay in control; nothing goes out without your review.

Sound familiar?

!

You bill the same retainer client the same amount every month, by hand, every time.

!

You've forgotten to invoice a client on time more than once.

!

Copy-pasting an old invoice risks carrying over a stale date, wrong FY, or an old line item.

!

You want consistency without losing the chance to review before it goes out.

How BillForge handles it

Set the cadence once

Mark any tax invoice as recurring — weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly — and pick the day it should regenerate on.

A draft, not an auto-send

On the due date, BillForge creates a fresh draft copy with the current date and financial year — it waits for you to review and send, so a client never gets an invoice you haven't looked at.

Runs even if you don't log in

Generation is driven by a daily background job, not by you opening the app — so a retainer invoice is never late just because you were busy that day.

Still Rule-46 safe

Every regenerated invoice goes through the same gap-free numbering and GST validation as one you create by hand — recurring doesn't mean a shortcut on compliance.

Questions

Does a recurring invoice get sent to my client automatically?▾

No. BillForge generates a draft copy for you to review on the due date — you decide when to actually send it. This is deliberate: an invoice going out with the wrong amount or a stale note is worse than a short delay.

What frequencies are supported?▾

Weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly — pick whichever matches your billing cycle with the client.

Can I edit the amount before it goes out, if this month's retainer is different?▾

Yes — the generated copy is a normal draft invoice. Edit any line item, amount, or note before sending, the same as any other invoice.

What happens to the recurring schedule if I stop needing it?▾

Turn off the recurring flag on the invoice at any time — past generated invoices are untouched, and no new drafts get created after that.
