New regime or old regime?

New regime

₹1,02,845 / month

Tax ₹83,460

Old regime

₹93,092 / month

Tax ₹2,00,491

The new regime leaves you ₹1,17,031 more a year (₹9,753 a month). Add your 80C, 80D and HRA in the old-regime box to see if that changes.

Rates and limits are those for FY 2026-27 (tax year 2026-27 under the Income-tax Act 2025), checked on 17 October 2026: slabs as in the Union Budget 2026 (unchanged). Section numbers such as 44AD, 44ADA, 87A and 80C are the familiar Income-tax Act 1961 numbers; the 2025 Act, in force from 1 April 2026, renumbers them. Figures assume the taxpayer is under 60 (senior citizens have higher old-regime limits). New regime: ₹75,000 standard deduction, rebate up to ₹12 lakh of taxable income (2026-27). Old regime: ₹50,000 standard deduction, rebate up to ₹5 lakh. This is a calculator, not tax advice. Your facts may differ, so confirm anything you file with your CA.

Frequently asked questions

How is take-home calculated from CTC?

Take the CTC, remove the employer's PF if it is part of it, then remove your own PF, professional tax and the income tax on the taxable part of your salary. What is left, divided by 12, is the monthly take-home. Bonuses, variable pay and reimbursements change it.

Is salary up to ₹12.75 lakh really tax-free?

In the new regime, yes: taxable income up to ₹12 lakh gets a full rebate under section 87A, and the ₹75,000 standard deduction takes a salary of ₹12.75 lakh down to ₹12 lakh. Just above that, marginal relief keeps the tax from exceeding the extra income.

Which regime is better for me?

The new regime has lower rates but almost no deductions. The old regime has higher rates but lets you claim 80C, 80D, HRA and more. The calculator shows both with your numbers: the old regime usually wins only when your deductions are large.

Why is my payslip different?

Employers spread tax over the months, pay out bonuses at different times, and may count allowances or employer NPS differently. This calculator uses a simple, even split.

Is professional tax the same everywhere?

No. It is a state tax, often ₹2,400 to ₹2,500 a year, and some states do not charge it. Enter your own figure.
